About the organization:
Zim-TTECH is seeking highly qualified and experienced applicants to fill the position of Systems Infrastructure and Administration Lead for the Impilo EHR/CBS program. Zim-TTECH’s activities occur primarily in the technical areas of health system strengthening; epidemiology and strategic information strengthening, health workforce development; operations research and evaluation; prevention, care, and treatment of infectious diseases. Zim-TTECH is funded by PEPFAR through the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to implement Strengthening Epidemiology and Strategic Information in the 44 districts of the Republic of Zimbabwe. Zim-TTECH also implements HIV & TB treatment and care services in five Zimbabwean provinces in support of the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) under the Zim-PAAC (Zimbabwe Partnership to Accelerate AIDS Control) Program. Additionally, the ZimPAAC DREAMS consortium comprising of three local partners implements DREAMS activities in four districts in Matabeleland North Province (Bubi, Nkayi, Tsholotsho and Lupane). The contract of employment for this position will support the epidemiology and strategic information scope of work and is renewable yearly subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance of the candidate.
The position reports to the Information Systems Lead and provides operating system performance tuning, problem diagnosis and problem resolution.
Perform operating system software installation, patching, upgrading and maintenance. Maintain operating system configuration files and kernel parameters. Perform user and group account administration. Develop shell scripts in support of system administration. Create and maintain files systems and directories mounted on the servers in compliance with and best practices. Support maintenance and administration of storage devices. Perform system start-ups and shutdowns. Support system security and network services requirements. Monitor data centre health using pre-existing management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed. Provide installation, upgrade, and maintenance of server hardware components, as requested. Manage user accounts, credentials, permissions, access rights, storage allocations. Expertise in creating, analysing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems. Creating volumes, assigning to servers and remote replication.
Degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems or any equivalent. 3-5 years’ experience with shell scripting experience preferred. Experience with UNIX, Linux, and Windows desired. Professional certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus. Demonstrated experience with system administration operations in compliance with government security requirements. Experience in server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly. Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery. Experience in system administration experience in a large-scale production environment.
