About the organization:

Zim-TTECH is seeking highly qualified and experienced applicants to fill the position of Systems Architect for the Impilo EHR/CBS program. Zim-TTECH’s activities occur primarily in the technical areas of health system strengthening; epidemiology and strategic information strengthening, health workforce development; operations research and evaluation; prevention, care, and treatment of infectious diseases. Zim-TTECH is funded by PEPFAR through the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to implement Strengthening Epidemiology and Strategic Information in the 44 districts of the Republic of Zimbabwe. Zim-TTECH also implements HIV & TB treatment and care services in five Zimbabwean provinces in support of the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) under the Zim-PAAC (Zimbabwe Partnership to Accelerate AIDS Control) Program. Additionally, the ZimPAAC DREAMS consortium comprising of three local partners implements DREAMS activities in four districts in Matabeleland North Province (Bubi, Nkayi, Tsholotsho and Lupane). The contract of employment for this position will support the epidemiology and strategic information scope of work and is renewable yearly subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance of the candidate.

Job Summary

The position reports to the Lead Software Developer. It provides technical leadership and advises on designs for application solutions, including design reviews, planning, development and resolving technical issues

Responsibilities

Develop Proof-of-Concept projects to validate new architectures and solutions. Support multiple Agile Scrum teams with planning, scoping and creation of technical solutions for the new product capabilities, through to continuous delivery to production. Assess and document current software development operations practices and work with the software development team to institute industry-standard practices in software development operations including testing, and continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD). Engage with business stakeholders to understand required capabilities, integrating business knowledge with technical solutions. Conduct system testing, validation, and training procedures.

Qualification

Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent Degree. 5+ years’ experience defining software architecture and designs for complex software systems. Familiarity with multiple languages, including C++, Java, Python, Kafka. Prior exposure to Apache Kafka, Microservice Architectures, and other enterprise software architecture. Demonstrated experience in delivering solutions using an industry standard software development lifecycle (e.g., agile, scrum). Must have experience with SOAP and REST web services, well versed with spring framework. Experience working with development of APIs – consumer and producer. Solid Programming skills using JAVA, J2EE, JavaScript, JMS, SOAP / REST Web Services, XSLT, XML, JSON. Proficiency in web service design. Experience of database access protocols such as ODBC, JDBC, SQL.  Have a solid understanding of delivery methodology and lead teams in the implementation of the solution according to the design/architecture. Experience in project and solution estimation and team structure definition. Fluent and current on architecture trends with an eye on market/technical conditions and future direction. Experience in defining new architectures and ability to drive an independent project from an architectural standpoint.
